ARTDOM Is Coming to Riyadh: A Design Affair with Global Intentions

ARTDOM

This November, Riyadh will host something rare: not just a design fair, but a full-on cultural statement. ARTDOM, the international exhibition known for its meticulous curation and unapologetically global outlook, is arriving in the Saudi capital for its most ambitious edition yet. Set against the desert-modernist backdrop of SARAJ, the event promises to blend high design with regional momentum in ways that feel as political as they are aesthetic.

What began in Russia as a boutique showcase for collectible design has now expanded into something much more layered. From November 11–12, ARTDOM will bring together 55 international designers, artists, and luxury brands, many of whom are setting foot in the Middle East for the first time. These aren’t just furniture makers—they’re storytellers, provocateurs, custodians of heritage. The objects they bring aren’t merely beautiful; they’re loaded with narrative and intent.

At its core, ARTDOM Riyadh feels like a coming-of-age moment—not just for the fair, but for the city hosting it. Riyadh has been positioning itself as a new capital of creativity, and this edition of ARTDOM gives it the cultural stage it’s been building toward. It’s a calculated move, yes—but also an exciting one. In a city racing to redefine itself, design becomes both a mirror and a megaphone.

Among the most anticipated elements are the talks and panels led by industry icons such as Giulio CappelliniDraga & Aurel, and Carlo Colombo—names that don’t often find themselves on stages in the Gulf. That they’ll be in Riyadh, in conversation with ARTDOM’s founder Daria Zolotova, signals a shift in where cultural capital is expected to flow. “We’ve spent years cultivating a professional community of designers, architects, media, and cultural leaders,” said Daria Zolotova. “Bringing over 55 international brands under one roof in Riyadh is not only a milestone, it’s a statement about where design is headed next.”

These talks will address more than just trends—they’re expected to touch on cultural diplomacy, sustainability, and the evolving role of design in a hyper-accelerated, post-pandemic world. In many ways, it’s these discussions that set ARTDOM apart: the event positions itself as a platform for dialogue, not just a marketplace for design objects.

“I am very happy to participate in the Riyadh fair because it is a very high-level event. There, people will see the best of contemporary design. The Riyadh fair will showcase luxury products, the best materials, the finest craftsmanship, and the highest attention to detail,” said Giulio Cappellini, legendary Italian designer and ARTDOM ambassador. “I’m proud to contribute with other architects and designers to the diffusion of contemporary design in such a culturally important destination.”

Not Just a Fair, but a Moment

Of course, no cultural event in the region would be complete without a touch of opulence. The exhibition will open with a private gala, hosting royalty, diplomats, curators, and members of the Saudi Royal Family—an elegant reminder that ARTDOM isn’t just about aesthetics, but about influence. And yet, the ambition here feels genuine. The organizers aren’t merely importing Western design into an exotic setting; they’re building a bridge, one that runs both ways.

What’s perhaps most compelling about ARTDOM Riyadh is its refusal to play it safe. The layout is immersive. The selection is bold. The goal is to create conversations—between materials and memory, between legacy and experimentation, between global vision and regional pride.

In the age of soft power and cultural pivoting, ARTDOM is planting a flag. It’s saying that Riyadh is no longer a cultural outsider—it’s the newest insider, and it’s hosting the world on its own terms.
